There are a few good ways to come from Poland to Budapest, or
to Hungary in general. The best starting place is definitely Krakow (Cracow).
There might be a possibility to occasionally get a better price from other main cities
of Poland but only on rare occasions and usually by flying only.
By Car
Don’t forget to buy highway tool fee in advance for Slovakia and
Hungary. Usually you can get them on the gas stations.
Plane
Planes take off regularly from Krakow and Warsaw. You
can chose between two low fares airlines. Wizzair and Ryanair. Prices vary hugely. It all depends on the time you are flying, how in
advance you are booking and many other things, as you probable already know. Fees
starts as low as 10€ but average is somewhere around 25€ + one way. Things are
changing in this field very rapidly so this information can’t be counted as
up to date. You need to check your self before planning your trip via plane
Train
There are very good train connections between Poland and Hungary via
train. Ticket prices starts from 29 € up (one way). Advantage of train is that
you can take a night one, with sleeping possibility (extra charge), and be fresh
and rested while arriving at your destination.
Most common one is PKP intercity
Bus
I think the cheapest and most widely used way to travel between
Krakow and Budapest is by bus/
Two main companies are:
Orangeways and Eurolines
Tickets start at 12€ but average is around 20€ one way
Journey takes around 7, 5-8 hours. Comfort depends on the
bus but usually they are quite good. It’s not a luxury tour but ticket prices
make that clear.
